Vitamin C Nourishing + protective cream

Notes from the producer - Aletheia Cyr

This vitamin C nourishing and protective skin cream is created in small batches with the best sourced ingredients I can find.

I started creating my own skin care products six years ago and have slowly refined my recipe to create a solution that works really well for our family. I have not found any other skin care product that combines herbalist wisdom with conventional ingredients. Most consider this an oxymoron and the herbalist reject Vitamin C in the L Ascorbate molecule the conventional dermatologist reject the herbalist wisdom. As I’ve researched more and more i’ve come to understand and appreciate all aspects of medicine and to pull specifics from each one that meet the needs of the human body.

Which is why I say this cream is a blend of apothecary meeting orthomolecular medicine!

The specific Nourishing and Protective skin cream is my go to “jack of all trades” cream. I have used it for protection against sun exposure (in combination with mindful sun exposure), face cream, rash cream, pregnancy belly cream, baby diaper cream, lotion for dry skin, and to aid in healing eczema!

Item Description

  • 2oz jar of Vitamin C sun Balm stored in an amber glass jar

  • FAQ: How long will it last? I’ve had a 2oz jar that we have used exclusively for sun exposure on our family of 3 and it has lasted through two summers. We still have about 1/3 left!

This is not a sun BLOCK or sun SCREEN

  • Although some of the ingredients in this balm do have a light natural SPF rating according to the FDA the SPF rating cannot be legally claimed. However, we have had great success with lengthening our sun exposure without getting burned using this. Even on Piper! She has yet to get a sunburn even after a week at FL beaches!

  • This product is meant to be used in combination with mindful sun exposure! I’ll explain more how I’ve seen the best results.

  • Please do not expect to put this product on and spend all day in high UV index sunlight and not get burned.

Mindful sun exposure:

  • Keep in mind that if you have been used to sunblocks and sunscreens they allow you to be out in the sun for long periods of time without (potentially) getting burned. This is very different then how our ancestors approached sunshine. Although the sun is our FRIEND and has SO many health benefits we do need to be mindful of its exposure. Sunblocks and sunscreens are filled with harmful ingredients that damage the skin and block us from life giving sun shine!

  • Here are a few tips for being mindful with sun exposure:

  • Start by getting out in the sun ALL year long as much as possible! The UV index is much lower as winter transitions into spring. This is your best time to build your skin's tolerance towards summer sun exposure. Chronic year long sun exposure leads to far less burning than hitting the beach in your bathing suit ALL day for the first time in June!

    1. During the summer months when the UV index is the highest be mindful of noon-time sun. By the end of summer we are out in the sun pretty much all day everyday using this balm. However, at the beginning of summer I often either put a sun shirt or hat on during the 11-3PM hours OR just take a shade break.

    2. When you notice your skin turning pink be mindful and make a choice to protect your skin. Everyone’s skin is different and what works for us may be different than for you!

  • We also ingest lots of Vitamin C water to help our skin absorb sun better!

  • We avoid industrial seed oils that are inflammatory and harmful to the skin. Especially when applied directly onto the skin under sun exposure.

How to use the Vitamin C cream as a sun balm:

  • Typically I use the Vitamin C sun balm before and after every time we go out in the sun!

  • I apply a small amount that spreads very evenly and over a large area of the body. Just rub it in well!

  • Because this is an oil based product you don’t have to worry about it washing off in the water or having to “let your sunscreen soak in” before jumping in!

  • If we are out in the sun all day I may reapply 2 or 3x.

  • This product is safe for babies!

  • Using the product after showering or at night time also helps your skin absorb the sun and nourish any pink skin!

Other uses for Vitamin C cream:

  • I use it daily as my nightly face cream

  • I use it on my pregnant belly all pregnancy long!

  • I use it on cuts/scrapes/scars or areas of the skin that need special nourishment

  • I use it on bug bites as the Vitamin C antihistamine helps the itching and heal the bug bite

Product Ingredients:

First off, what makes the difference with apothecary balms is the quality of your ingredients! From my research, each ingredient I use is the best quality. Because I have used this primarily for my family and not for resale sourcing ingredients well that don’t compromise our skin is really important! Also none of my ingredients have ever touched plastic. All of my batches of cream are made in small batches over low and slow heat to preserve the integrity of the ingredients.
