Below is a list of some of the conditions that can interrupt bile flow and the findings of TUDCA research.

• Enzyme Excess. The liver produces two vital enzymes alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST), which must be maintained at a particular level. Damage can cause levels to rise abnormally. Studies indicate that TUDCA supplements may be able to lower enzyme levels and increase bile flow.

• Liver Cirrhosis. This occurs when healthy liver cells are replaced with scar tissue. According to the American Liver Foundation, alcohol and the hepatitis C virus are the two most common causes. Fat accumulation is another culprit. The more scar tissue buildup, the more liver function is diminished. Research suggest TUDCA may be an effective treatment.
